Book week costume dress up!

Having a big family has its pros and cons...
Pro's - how much fun is it to pick a book character and dress up!
Con's - 4 kids means 4 costumes and all of it was last minute...
If you want something done, give it to a crazy person (or busy person but who's got time for that!).

 Sooooo my boys choose :-
Greg from Diary of a Whimpy Kid,
Wally from Where's Wally,
Tom from Beast Quest and
Minion - ok that's a movie right?

Greg was fun!!! I literally found white thermal leggings and tops and glued black ribbon on it. A bit of board for the cut out with stanly knife.

Wally was interesting... I had to use a cotton that didn't stretch and the hat is a beanie (eeek it's a Sydney swans hat under the hat). I just copied a t shirt pattern and drew around the hat.

Tom is by far my favorite costume, he is spot on to the book illustration. I may have unpicked a pair of his old skinny jeans with holes (most my boys jeans end up with holes) to use for the pattern. The top is just a pattern for a tshirt with a collar.

Minion was the easiest, loving the googles!!!

All this effort was worth it for the excitement it gave my boys!!!

Family Christmas photo!!!

It was so hard to find awesome pics that I could copy from Pinterest and use for a Christmas photo, maybe it was just me but I liked the Christmas light idea so I tried it!.  Every year I like to have a screen saver on my computer and phone that shows me the fun spirit of Christmas. So here is my interpretation!!!

I had so much fun making this photo!!! Two evil younger brothers tying up their older brothers.  I took it into office works and managed to get a very large print for $60 on tear proof and water proof paper.  I thought that was the best option since it is a picture that will come out mainly at Christmas and be put somewhere out of sight the rest of the year.  I am hoping to start a new tradition and do something like this every year!

My boys were into this a little to much! I used a 9 minute YouTube Photoshop tutorial to change the background, here is the original:-

Either way I love both pics, but it snowed here in August and I liked the reminder of where we lived for the background!

I have a good Nikon camera but these pics can be taken on any camera, phone included because I did take a picture with the boys iPod's so they had it for a screen saver and it was so easy to edit using apps!

I brought a backdrop and lighting off eBay for less than $100 and have taken countless picture since!
I haven't mastered the set up and it did take a bit of practice to get the lighting right but have taken heaps of gorgeous photos, so I am hoping I am doing something right!

Here are some other Christmas photos that were taken and edited on my phone!
This one was used as an iron on transfere and printed onto their Christmas t-shirts! They loved it! I told them to look annoyed at me... I think they mastered
It!!! :)

Photos taken for friends in my makeshift dodgy studio because I am no photographer :)

Blowing glitter!
